Metrosideros excelsa merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Myrtaceae (suku jambu-jambuan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Pulau North Selandia Baru. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan Pohutukawa atau New Zealand Christmas tree. Nama ilmiah Metrosideros excelsa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Daniel Solander pada tahun 1788.
