Mimosa barrancana merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering di wilayah Meksiko utara. Nama ilmiah Mimosa barrancana diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Howard Scott Gentry pada tahun 1948.
