Mimosa pauli merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering di wilayah Meksiko utara. Nama ilmiah Mimosa pauli diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Rupert Charles Barneby pada tahun 1991.
