Onobrychis schugnanica merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Asia tengah. Nama ilmiah Onobrychis schugnanica diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Boris Alexjewitsch Fedtschenko pada tahun 1902.
