Parthenium hysterophorus merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah kawasan tropis dan subtropis Amerika . Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan santa maria feverfew. Nama ilmiah Parthenium hysterophorus diperkenalkan oleh Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
