Pfaffia helichrysoides merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Amaranthaceae (suku bayam-bayaman). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Bolivia hingga Brazil dan Argentina (Misiones). Nama ilmiah Pfaffia helichrysoides pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Christian Horace Bénédict Alfred Moquin-Tandon pada tahun 1891.
