Phaseolus pauciflorus merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko hingga Guatemala. Nama ilmiah Phaseolus pauciflorus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Martín Sessé y Lacasta pada tahun 1832.
