Phaseolus pedicellatus var. grayanus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Arizona hingga Texas dan Meksiko. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan gray's bean. Nama ilmiah Phaseolus pedicellatus var. grayanus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Elmer Otis Wooton pada tahun 1998.
