Physalis philadelphica adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan semusim dari famili Solanaceae (suku terong-terongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko hingga Amerika tengah, Kuba hingga Haiti. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan mexican groundcherry. Nama ilmiah Physalis philadelphica diperkenalkan oleh Jean-Baptiste Lamarck pada tahun 1786.
