Piper chamissonis merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Piperaceae (suku sirih-sirihan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko hingga Honduras. Nama ilmiah Piper chamissonis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Friedrich Anton Wilhelm Miquel pada tahun 1841.
