Piper porphyrophyllum merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Piperaceae (suku sirih-sirihan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Semenanjung Thailand hingga Malaya. Nama ilmiah Piper porphyrophyllum pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis John Lindley pada tahun 1884.
