Piper sphaerocarpum merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Piperaceae (suku sirih-sirihan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Kuba. Nama ilmiah Piper sphaerocarpum pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis August Heinrich Rudolf Grisebach pada tahun 1871.
