Piper tomentosum merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Piperaceae (suku sirih-sirihan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Meksiko (?). Nama ilmiah Piper tomentosum pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Philip Miller pada tahun 1768.
