Platonia insignis merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Clusiaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Venezuela selatan hingga Guianas dan utara dan Brazil timur laut. Nama ilmiah Platonia insignis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius pada tahun 1832.
