Pleopeltis polylepis merupakan tumbuhan epifit dari famili Polypodiaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Texas hingga Honduras. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan redscale scaly polypody. Nama ilmiah Pleopeltis polylepis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Johann Jacob Roemer pada tahun 1862.
