Rhododendron protistum var. giganteum merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Ericaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah China (Yunnan barat). Nama ilmiah Rhododendron protistum var. giganteum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama George Forrest pada tahun 1979.
