Rhus ovata adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Anacardiaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari California hingga Meksiko utara. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan sugar sumac. Nama ilmiah Rhus ovata pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Sereno Watson pada tahun 1885.
