Saussurea thomsonii adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran) yang memiliki siklus reproduktif hanya sekali seumur hidupnya (monokarpip). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim dingin (subalpin atau subarktik) dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Himalaya barat hingga China barat. Nama ilmiah Saussurea thomsonii diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Charles Baron Clarke pada tahun 1876.
