Saussurea wernerioides merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari wilayah sepanjang Tibet tenggara hingga China (Sichuan barat dan Yunnan utara). Nama ilmiah Saussurea wernerioides diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Heinrich "Bipontinus" Schultz pada tahun 1881.
