Senecio melanolepis merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari wilayah sepanjang Peru hingga Bolivia selatan. Nama ilmiah Senecio melanolepis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Augustin Pyramus de Candolle pada tahun 1838.
