Senecio picridioides merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Australia Barat bagian selatan hingga Victoria selatan-tengah. Nama ilmiah Senecio picridioides pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Nicolai Stepanovitch Turczaninow pada tahun 1985.
