Sphaeranthus suaveolens var. abyssinicus merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Mesir hingga Malawi. Nama ilmiah Sphaeranthus suaveolens var. abyssinicus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Joachim Steetz pada tahun 1954.
