Stylosanthes hippocampoides merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Bolivia hingga Brazil dan Argentina bagian utara. Nama ilmiah Stylosanthes hippocampoides pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Robert H. Mohlenbrock pada tahun 1957.
