Tetracera empedoclea merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Dilleniaceae (suku simpur-simpuran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Brazil (Bahia, Minas Gerais). Nama ilmiah Tetracera empedoclea pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Ernest Friedrich Gilg pada tahun 1893.
