Viola communis merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Violaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Amerika Serikat bagian utara-tengah dan timur. Nama ilmiah Viola communis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Charles Louis Pollard pada tahun 1898.
