Xanthosoma caracu merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Araceae (suku talas-talasan). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk bonggol berbentuk umbi. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Hispaniola hingga Puerto Rico. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan yautia horqueta. Nama ilmiah Xanthosoma caracu diperkenalkan oleh Karl Heinrich Emil Koch pada tahun 1855.
