Arctium lappa adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Eurasia beriklim sedang. Di Indonesia tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan nama gobo. Nama ilmiah Arctium lappa diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
