Kaktus centong adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan sukulen berbentuk pohon dari famili Cactaceae (suku kaktus-kaktusan). Tumbuhan yang dikenal dengan nama ilmiah Opuntia cochenillifera ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering di wilayah Meksiko. Kaktus centong juga dikenal dengan sebutan lain yaitu tentong (Jawa). Nama ilmiah Opuntia cochenillifera diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Philip Miller pada tahun 1768.
