Rhododendron vellereum merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Ericaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Qinghai tenggara hingga Tibet selatan dan timur. Nama ilmiah Rhododendron vellereum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama John Hutchinson pada tahun 1930.
